This is a stunning, gem quality natural, unheated cushion cut Ceylon sapphire weighing 2.75ct. Intense blue with a touch of purple giving it the beauty of the finest tanzanite. The stone measures 8.64 x 6.13 x 5.65mm. It is cut a little deep in the classic Sri Lankan way giving the stone superior luster.
Sri Lanka produces perhaps the finest sapphires in the world in all different colors and color combinations. It is estimated that well over 90% of the world's gem sapphires are heat treated. For the gem purist, there are stones like this unheated sapphire. It came out of the ground so pretty it needed only faceting - no enhancement! The stone has been certified by the American Gem Trade Association's Gem Testing Center as natural sapphire, with no indication of heating. Please click on the zoom image to see the certificate.
